Ambassador Masood Khalid stresses importance of educational linkages for mutual learning under the Belt and Road Initiative

December 06,2017

Ambassador Masood Khalid visited the Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) today to attend the opening ceremony of the first Belt and Road University Presidents Forum 2017. The participants included University Presidents, researchers and experts from Belt and Road countries as well as China.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Masood Khalid said that revival of the ancient Silk Road, through President Xi Jinping’s vision of the Belt and Road Initiative, comes at a very important juncture in the economic development of the world.
Ambassador said that as a key supporter of the BRI, Pakistan is ready to give full play to its strengths and complement China’s efforts to actualize the Belt and Road. At the forefront of wide-ranging Pakistan-China collaboration is the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which is the flagship project of the Belt and Road.
Ambassador highlighted that this Forum affords an opportunity for universities and education institutions in Pakistan and China to strengthen linkages, promote academic exchanges, and expand scholarship programmes. He also invited Chinese universities and institutions to embrace the opportunity, and establish research centers and campuses in Pakistan.
