First Speakers’ Conference on Partnership for Peace, Development and Connectivity

First Speakers’ Conference on Partnership for Peace, Development and Connectivity was held on 24 December 2017 in Islamabad.
President of the Wolesi Jirga of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of People’s Republic of China, Speaker of Islamic Consultative Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Turkey represented their respective sides. Peace activists, representatives of business and trade community, professionals, academia and experts from the six countries also participated in the Conference.
President of Pakistan H.E. Mr. Mamnoon Hussain inaugurated the moot which served as a platform for the participants to engage in meaningful discussions to explore common means of combating terrorism, maintaining peace and enhancing connectivity of people and states.
‘Islamabad Declaration’ was adopted at the Conference in which the Parties reiterated their commitment to open, inclusive and transparent international security architecture based on the principles of international law, indivisibility of security, peaceful settlement of disputes, non-use of force or threat of force, for the benefit of strengthening peace, stability and sustainable development  in Asia and beyond. 
The Parties agreed to hold the next meeting in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran in 2018.
