Ambassador Masood Khalid delivers congratulatory message of the President at APSCO High-level Forum

Speaking at a High-level Forum to mark the tenth anniversary of the founding of the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) on 14 November 2018 in Beijing, Ambassador Masood Khalid, on behalf of APSCO Member States, thanked the Government of China for generously hosting the Organization and strongly supporting its activities.
Pakistan is a founding member of APSCO which was established in 2008 to foster space cooperation among countries of the Asia Pacific region. APSCO has eight members and is based in Beijing. Since its establishment, APSCO has been sharing outcomes of joint projects among all Member States in the areas of space technology development, space science, and space technology applications. The space programmes of member countries have particularly benefited from APSCO’s Education and Training Program, Student Small Satellite Project, and Data-sharing Service Platform.
Ambassador Masood Khalid commended APSCO for becoming an invaluable cooperative mechanism in a short period and consolidating efforts of the developing countries towards building a community of shared future through space cooperation. The Ambassador also stressed that peaceful uses of space and its vast resources offered an opportunity to work together in an open and inclusive manner for sharing of scientific knowledge, ensuring wellbeing of mankind, and improving life on Earth.
Earlier in the ceremony, the Ambassador conveyed congratulatory message of the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, to the Secretary General of APSCO. In his message, the President has assured APSCO of Pakistan’s continued support to the Organization’s activities as it embarks on implementing its Vision 2030.
The Pakistan delegation for the high-level event was led by Mr. Amer Nadeem, Chairman SUPARCO. In his statement, Chairman SUPARCO acknowledged immense contributions of APSCO in assisting space programmes of member countries and fostering regional cooperation.
