Artefacts from Pakistan exhibited at the Asian Civilization Exhibition in Beijing

19 original artefacts from Gandhara Civilization are being displayed by Pakistan in the Exhibition of Asian Civilizations held in Beijing at the prestigious National Museum of China. Pakistan has one of the biggest exhibits at the event. The oldest artefact from Pakistan is the “terracotta female human figurine” which is estimated to be 5,000 years old. The artefacts from Pakistan have generated great interest among the visitors of the exhibition and depict our civilizational history, art and culture. These artefacts are the collection of Department of Archaeology and Museums Islamabad.
The exhibition with the theme “Splendour of Asia” is being held in Beijing from 13 May 2019 and will continue till 11 August 2019. 450 artefacts from 47 Asian countries including Pakistan are being displayed at the exhibition.
Mr. Huang Kunming, head of the publicity department of Communist Party of China and member of the politburo was the chief guest on the occasion. The Chinese Minister of Culture, Mr. Luo Shugang, Vice Minister Kong Xuanyou from Foreign Affairs and ambassadors from the diplomatic corps were present at the event.
Mr. Masood Khalid, Ambassador of Pakistan to China represented Pakistan. Sharing his thoughts on the occasion, he said that cultural and civilizational exchanges, like this exhibition are a glimpse into the history of human civilizations. He thanked Chinese government for hosting this event where Pakistan and other Asian countries displayed their combined history and culture. He emphasized that such events help to negate misperceptions and promote peace and harmony among nations.
The Artefacts from Pakistan have been arranged through the joint efforts of the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, National History and Literary Heritage Division in Islamabad and the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad.
