Iqbal Day Commemorated in Beijing

The Embassy of Pakistan, Beijing commemorated Iqbal Day at the Embassy. The event started with a poetic documentary about the life of Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Minister (Political), Mr. Ahmed Farooq read President of Pakistan's message on Iqbal Day. A video message by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Iqbal Day was also viewed with enthusiasm by the audience.

Chief Guest of the occasion, Professor Liu Shuxiong, Director of South Asian Study Center, termed the celebration of “Iqbal Day” in China as a matter of pride and pleasure. He also shed light, in fluent Urdu, on various aspects of the poetry of Allama Iqbal.

Embassy officers, community members, Faculty from Urdu Department of the Peking University and Beijing Foreign Studies University students recited poetry of Allama Iqbal on the occasion.

In the closing remarks, Ambassador Naghmana Hashmi paid tribute to the Chinese faculty and students in promoting not only Urdu language but also Iqbal's poetry in China. She said that not only is Iqbal's work equally praised in East and West but it is also a harbinger of hope and new awakening for the youth.
