Notice for Students

March 29,2021

With reference to Embassy of Pakistan’s earlier Notices for Students dated 08 October 2020 and 25 January 2021 regarding the return of Pakistani students to China, Pakistani students may please note the following press statement in this behalf by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson:

“The Chinese government attaches great importance to protecting the legitimate rights and interests of international students. We require relevant universities to maintain close contact with overseas students, make good arrangements of online teaching and properly handle legitimate concerns and appeals of students. On the pre-condition of observing containment protocol, the Chinese authorities will study this matter in a coordinated manner keeping communication with relevant parties.”

Moreover, in response to various queries received from Pakistani students with regard to their scholarships, the Embassy would suggest that the students who are unable to carry out experiments or research in Pakistan may please approach their respective universities and follow the procedure for “suspension of study” according to the relevant regulations of the Chinese government scholarship during the outbreak of COVID-19. Request for “suspension of study” is an important requirement which would enable the students to apply for renewal of their scholarships after their return to their universities China. In this regard, Pakistani students are further advised to please stay in touch with their respective universities which are the focal points for all information and instructions regarding return of international students, including their scholarship matters.
