Prime Minister Imran Khan participated in the Forum on the 20th Anniversary of Juncao Assistance and Sustainable Development Cooperation on 2 September 2021

Prime Minister Imran Khan participated in theForum on the 20th Anniversary of Juncao Assistance and Sustainable Development Cooperation held in Beijing, through a video message. 

 

In his message, Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s strong resolve and commitment to the international cooperation aimed at poverty alleviation, sustainable growth and climate change. Prime Minister highlighted his government’s efforts wherein a wide range of social safety programmes like ‘Ehsaas’ have been launched for uplifting the marginalized people, eradicating poverty and supporting vulnerable households. In this regard, he said that China’s poverty alleviation endavours that had brought 800 million people out of poverty stood out as a model for the rest of the world.

 

Prime Minister also dilated upon the comprehensive environment protection agenda of Pakistan seeking to restore forest and natural resources of the country through initiatives like the 10 Billion Tree Project. He also appreciated President Xi’s initiative to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.

 

He said that initiatives like Juncao could help both the global efforts for poverty alleviation and clean environment

 

Juncao technology, seeks to cultivate nutritious mushrooms from chopped grasses without cutting down trees or damaging environment. The main agenda of the Forum was to review the development, application and effectiveness of Juncao technology, advance its internationalization, especially under the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
