Prime Minister’s meeting with Prime Minister Li Keqiang, 13 May 2017

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Li Keqiang on 13 May 2017. The Prime Minister is visiting China at the invitation of Chinese leadership to participate in the Belt and Road Forum.
 
During the bilateral the entire spectrum of bilateral relations as well as regional and global issues of mutual concern came under discussion. The Prime Minister underscored the importance that Pakistan attaches to its relations with China. He stated that Pakistan-China ‘all weather’ relationship is based on shared principles and interests and forms the foundation of the strategic cooperative partnership with China.
 
The Prime Minister lauded the hosting of Belt and Road Forum and said that it was a practical manifestation of China’s vision for win-win development and equitable prosperity. This will help boost economic growth and bring unparalleled dividends for all the countries concerned. In this context, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is a shining example as it is not only a mutually beneficial economic project but has immense potential for the region and the world.
 
Primer Li reciprocated the warm sentiments of the Prime Minister and reiterated that China attaches great importance to its relations with Pakistan and supports its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity 
 
He thanked Pakistan for its consistent support to China on issues of its core interests. Acknowledging the sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in fighting terrorism and extremism, he assured China’s full support.
 
The two sides expressed satisfaction at the continued progress in bilateral relations in all fields and expressed their resolve to work towards further solidifying political relations, deepening economic bonds and security cooperation and closer people-to-people contacts in order to achieve the goal of China-Pakistan “Community of Shared Destiny".
