Opening Remarks by Ambassador Khalil Hashmi at 2nd edition of Pakistan Professionals and Students Forum
Ladies and Gentlemen,
It is with immense pleasure and a sense of purpose that I extend a warm welcome to each of you at the 2nd edition of the "Pakistan Professionals and Students Forum," being hosted by the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing. Today represents a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to fortify the crucial bridge between academia and industry, a bridge that holds the key to unlocking a brighter future for Pakistani expats in China, supported wholeheartedly by our esteemed partners in this endeavor.
Our chosen theme for this year's forum, "Building Bridges between Academia and Industry," underscores the critical importance of bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. This convergence is not just about individual success but about creating a 'win-win' scenario that benefits individuals, businesses, and the broader society alike.
I wish to express my deepest gratitude to our distinguished guests, esteemed speakers, and enthusiastic participants whose invaluable contributions have enriched the fabric of this forum. Special recognition is also due to the team whose efforts since the forum's inception in 2021 have elevated it to a platform of immense value, facilitating networking, knowledge exchange, and impactful partnerships. And for all the community members who played a role in this year’s edition.
Today’s event is not just for you. It’s by you!
As we gather here today, I am also reminded of my predecessor Ambassador Moin ul Haque, whose initiative laid the foundation for this forum. I am equally grateful for the inspiring messages of support received from him and Mr. Salik Hussain, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, and Secretary Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, all of which reaffirm our collective commitment to the growth and success of the Pakistani Diaspora.
The theme of today's forum resonates deeply with one of the core objectives of my tenure: securing a brighter future for Pakistani expats in China. Bridging the gap between academia and industry is not merely a theoretical concept; it is a tangible pathway to empowerment. This collaboration ignites a spark of innovation, nurtures entrepreneurial spirit, and cultivates a culture of excellence and adaptability.
Our partnerships with esteemed Chinese enterprises such as Tang International Education Group, Beijing Global Talent Exchange Association, ZBRA, BIM, and T-Systems have been instrumental in providing internships, enhancing career growth opportunities, and fostering cross-cultural exchange. I urge these enterprises to expand their internship programs further, creating even more pathways for skill development and career advancement for Pakistani students.
Today's agenda, carefully crafted in collaboration with your valuable input and support, encompasses a wide array of discussions and insights. From navigating China's job market and understanding research intricacies to harnessing the potential of industry-academia linkages within the context of CPEC and BRI, each session is designed to empower, inform, and inspire.
I won’t take much time as it’s you who is to do the talking today. At this point I would just emphasize that let us draw inspiration from the timeless wisdom encapsulated in the Chinese proverb, "The ocean is vast because fish leap, the sky is high because birds fly." As we navigate the dynamic landscape of academia and industry, let us embrace the spirit of exploration, and growth.
I wish everyone a productive, enlightening, and enriching experience at the Pakistan Professionals and Students Forum. Let us seize this opportunity to connect, collaborate, and create pathways for success. Thank you.
