Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Minister for Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs held a meeting with Mr. Xiao Jie, Finance Minister of China on 7th September, 2017 on the sidelines of the Inauguration ceremony of the CAREC Institute in Urumqi, China. Mr. Jie thanked the Minster for taking time out of his busy schedule to personally attend the inauguration of CAREC Institute. He also appreciated the efforts of Pakistan for the development of CAREC Institute. He said that he was particularly pleased to know that Pakistan signed the instrument of ratification for the CAREC Institute.
Mr. Ishaq Dar congratulated Mr. Jie on successful inauguration of the CAREC Institute. He said that credit of this development goes to the Chinese leadership particularly the Chinese Finance Minister. He informed Mr. Jie that the Government of Pakistan is according utmost priority for early and successful completion of CPEC Projects. He briefed the Chinese counterpart about the human resource in the form of 17000 Security Personnel deployed for ensuring foolproof security for CPEC projects. A Special Security Division of 15000 personnel has been raised for this arrangement. The Minister expressed desire to enhance the level of trade between the two countries. He informed the Chinese counterpart that a MoU is pending endorsement of Chinese Custom Authorities, which needs to be expedited.
Mr. Jie thanked the Minister for all efforts targeted towards successful and timely completion of CPEC projects particularly security arrangements for CPEC projects. He said that the Ministry of Finance of PRC would lend full support to Pakistan in this regard. He also said that Pakistan being an important member of CAREC is expected to send more people for training, research and knowledge sharing conducted under the CAREC Institute. China stands ready to provide all support to the CAREC Institute to become a knowledge-sharing platform.
