Second Pakistan China Medical Congress held in Beijing

The second Pakistan China-Medical Congress was held in Beijing from 26-27 January. It was co-organized by China Medical Association and Pakistan Medical Association. The first Congress was held in Karachi in 2017.
Deputy Head of Mission (DHM) Mumtaz Zahra Baloch was the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony. In her remarks, the DHM emphasized the importance for increasing bilateral cooperation in the field of health and medical care. She highlighted the scope for collaboration in capacity building, clinical trainings, research and technology transfer between the two countries. The Deputy Head of mission appreciated the contributions of the Pakistani medical professionals in strengthening Pakistan-China bilateral relationship through increased networking, research and information sharing with their Chinese counterparts.
The Vice President of China Medical Association Mr. Wusi Li underlined the progress made in the establishment of a medical corridor between Pakistan and China, which will benefit cooperation between the two countries. Muhammad Ashraf Nizami, President of Pakistan Medical Association highlighted the contribution of Chinese health professionals. He said that under the Bright Journey Pakistan, 500 eye surgeries have been performed by Chinese ophthalmologists from 19-24 January 2018.
The Medical Congress was attended by Pakistani and Chinese medical experts from over 10 specialties such as neurosurgery and ophthalmology. The opening ceremony was followed by research sessions and symposiums on various medical themes including surgical treatments and bone reconstructions, congenital heart diseases, cardiac surgery, evaluation of Anesthesia practice in Pakistan, development of ophthalmology and cataract surgery, cochlear implantation, plastic surgery, diagnosis and treatment of Hepatitis B and diabetes.
