Beijing Foreign Studies University promotes Urdu Language by organizing Dubbing Competition

The Urdu Language Department of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU) organized an Urdu Dubbing Competition on 5 July 2018 to promote Urdu language, Pakistani culture and films amongst the Chinese students. The students learning Urdu at the University participated in the competition. Deputy Head of Mission at Pakistan Embassy in Beijing Mumtaz Zahra Baloch was the Chief Guest at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Head of Mission Mumtaz Zahra Baloch appreciated BFSU and Urdu Language Department for promoting language and culture of Pakistan amongst the youth of China. She said that educational cooperation and people-to-people connectivity is a crucial aspect of the bilateral relationship and emphasized the need to increase exchange of students to further cultural and civilizational links between Pakistan and China. Ms. Baloch also lauded efforts of the teachers and students for selection of quality films and dramas for the competition and hoped they would continue to work hard to further enhance their proficiency in the Urdu language.
Ms. Zhou Yuan, Head of Urdu Department at BFSU said that Urdu language has been taught in the department since 2007. Currently 22 Chinese students were learning Urdu language. She mentioned that her department has been organizing competitions like Urdu Calligraphy, Urdu speech contest and cultural activities to introduce Pakistan to the Chinese students. She thanked the Government of Pakistan and the Embassy for its continued support to the Center.  
The Chinese students impressed the audience and judges with their dialogue delivery, pronunciation and vocabulary during the competition. The audience also enjoyed performance of a young Chinese student who played traditional Pakistani music on the flute. The chief guest distributed awards and gifts amongst the top position holders of the competition.

The event was attended by a large number of people including Chinese Professors of Urdu language and students interested in learning about Pakistan.
