Pakistan-China Cross-border Optical Fibre Cable inaugurated

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, H.E. Justice (Retd.) Nasir-ul-Mulk, inaugurated the land-based cross border optical fibre project between Pakistan and China, marking a significant achievement under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minster said that the inter-connection of both countries’ communication networks will improve Pakistan’s telecommunication infrastructure and advance the development of its communication technology. It would also facilitate connectivity between Pakistan, China and the entire region, he added.
The project was jointly executed by Pakistan’s Special Communication Organization and Huawei Technologies.
The underground cable runs between Rawalpindi and Khunjerab, on the border with China, where it connects with the optical fibre network on the Chinese side.
