DEFENCE AND MARTYRS DAY COMMEMORATED IN BEIJING

Defence and Martyrs Day of Pakistan was commemorated with due fervor and solemnity at the Embassy of Pakistan, Beijing. Defence Day is dedicated to pay homage not only to the martyrs of the 1965 war, those who served for defence of Pakistan.
A ceremony was held at the Pakistan Embassy to mark the occasion. The event started with the National Anthem of Pakistan followed by tribute to the armed forces, law enforcement agencies and the citizens of Pakistan for their sacrifices during the 1965 war. Messages of the President, Prime Minister and military leadership were read out.
In his address, Ambassador Moion-ul-Haque said that Defence Day was commemorated as a tribute to the patriotism, discipline and commitment of our valiant Armed Forces. He said that Pakistan sought a peaceful and prosperous neighborhood which was the cardinal principle of Pakistan’s Foreign Policy. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unflinching political, moral and diplomatic support to the just cause of the people of Kashmir. The Ambassador also highlighted the sacrifices of Armed forces of Pakistan in the fight against terrorism and reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to progress as a nation united against all threats.
